One of the most exciting things about having written a ‘book’ as it’s a great springboard for adaptation. I was going to cite Douglas Adam’s whose Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy spawned radio, television, film, game, stage, comic-book and tea-towel variations although I think the radio version came before the book? Anyway, a book you can do a lot with. Well, you can read it, but you can also turn it into other things.
This excites me. I am all for adaptation. Not just by myself, it’s free for you the outside people to take from it (if you’re not profiting obvs – there is copyright shenanigans about that) and turn into their own, it’s like having another communication isn’t it? And creativity really gets my motor running!
Also it’s about it making more accessible to more people, isn’t it? I have been toying of reading out certain sections and recording them for SOUNDCLOUD and YOUTUBE, all that, but it never really got me excited! Today as I toddled about thinking about my ideas for various web-series, podcasts and so on – I realised, what if I made dramatisations of bits of the book available? Like a little audio play, or some YouTube Flash Animation, or a song – Adapting various bits of the book in different ways! I am all for it!
Also I want other people to get involved, I’d love it if anyone who has a copy of the book to read a bit of it, out loud, into a microphone and put it up online, on their own pages, on twitter or any social media, get it out there, it would make my heart sing!
Let’s get it out there darlings 😀
